Philosophy and History of Science:

  1. Study traditional narratives which seek to explain natural phenomena. Compare and contrast narratives from a range of cultural origins. Identify the scientific knowledge underlying these narratives, and explore their roles in the original cultural context, including traditional philosophies, ethics and value systems.

  2. Develop understanding of the processes by which science and society affect each other and co-evolve. Appreciate the role played by science and technology in the past and present processes impacting on indigenous peoples and ecosystems, and the possibility for indigenous perspectives to influence science applications.

  2. Ka whakapakari māramatanga mō ngā hononga i waenganui i te pūtaiao me te porihanga, me ngā tukanga e tupu ngātahi ai. Ka kite i te wāhi ki te pūtaiao me te hangarau i roto i ngā mahi porihanga e whai pānga ana ki ngā tāngata whenua me ngā hauropi māori, i mua, i nāianei, ā, i ngā rā anō pea e heke mai ana.

  • Health and Physical Education: Take individual and collective action to contribute to safe environments that can be enjoyed by all eg. Create sunsafe environments


  • Health and Physical Education: Share ideas and beliefs about ways in which the environment contributes to well-being and work with other people to make improvements eg. improvements in the classroom or school grounds.
