Students can identify good heat conductors and poor heat conductors. They can name places in which each kind of material is used.
Students can describe how hot water rises and explain it in their own words.
Level 4
Students can understand why hot water rises and explain the meaning of convection.
Students can group items that assist in conducting heat and those that assist in insulating heat.
Students can rank colours in order of their ability to insulate.
Social Sciences: How and why people view and use resources differently and the consequences of this eg. Environmental preservation versus logging or mining
Mathematics and Statistics (Statistics): Estimate the median and mean in a data display of temperatures.
