Philosophy and History of Science:

  1. Study traditional narratives which seek to explain natural phenomena. Compare and contrast narratives from a range of cultural origins. Identify the scientific knowledge underlying these narratives, and explore their roles in the original cultural context, including traditional philosophies, ethics and value systems.

  2. Develop understanding of the processes by which science and society affect each other and co-evolve. Appreciate the role played by science and technology in the past and present processes impacting on indigenous peoples and ecosystems, and the possibility for indigenous perspectives to influence science applications.

Ka kite i te wāhi ki te pūtaiao me te hangarau i roto i ngā mahi porihanga e whai pānga ana ki ngā tāngata whenua me ngā hauropi māori, i mua, i nāianei, ā, i ngā rā anō pea e heke mai ana.
